Lately, the words "Golf" and "Saskatchewan" are spoken in relation to one man: Graham DeLaet, of Weyburn, Saskatchewan. DeLaet, who made his Master's debut recently, has been one of the breakout stars of the PGA Tour, and a breakout star here at home, as people across the province have taken a shine to the young professional golfer.
Though DeLaet's first time at the Master's was cut short, the 32-year-old will still be competing in three other majors this season, on top of numerous appearances at tournaments around the world.
The Master's was not only a first-time experience for DeLaet, but for his followers as well, aptly dubbed "Graham's Gangsters". Their bright green shirts stood out and caught the eye of news outlets across the country, as well as the CBS cameras on occasion. Their specially designed t-shirts were created in support of the Graham DeLaet Foundation, which is raising money for junior golf in Saskatchewan.
This summer, Prairies North is supporting numerous golf tournaments across the province, including the 2014 Saskatchewan Junior Men's and Women's Championships being held in Nipawin from July 14-16 and The Legends Junior Open on August 19th in Warman. We love giving people around the province the opportunity to explore what their passionate about, and what better way to celebrate summer in Saskatchewan than golf!
