Do you like this?

I was four when I moved to Saskatchewan and now I am almost 9.  I used to live in Alberta beside my Grandma’s and Grandpa’s house.  My family really loves it here and I do too!  We moved beside a lake.  It is only three miles from my house.  I swim and have fun with my brothers and sister.  We go fishing sometimes – not all the time.  Sometimes my brother and I go with the paddle boat to go fishing!  So far I have not caught any fish.

I live on an acreage.  I have sheep, goats and chickens, a puppy, cats and dogs.  The puppy lives in the house with my family.  His name is Nacho.  The other dogs’ names are Wolf and Cocomo.  I am going to tell you the names of the animals – but not the chickens – I can’t remember all of them!  Starting with the sheep we have:  Cream and Sugar, Tansy, Uno, 3D, Lipstick, Boots, Hershey and 2T.  Last year we had some lambs and named them Flip, Flop and Sunshine the triplets, Millie Mickey and Mouse – more triplets…actually we had a lot of lambs – 18!  I think I won’t tell you ALL their names!  I almost forgot the goats’ names by accident!  They are angora goats and are named Cane, Hobo and Yuki.  When people come over they think the goats are sheep.  I think that’s very funny!

Winter is my favorite time of the year.  You know why its my favorite time of the year?  Because its Christmas and Christmas is Jesus’ birthday.  I like to make snowmen, play with my brothers and sister and make snow forts.  Last year someone with a tractor made a big pile of snow for us that we could climb on!  Sometimes I yell “I’m the queen of the castle and you’re the dirty rascal!”

I am looking forward to spring so I can hatch chicks and sell them.  Chicks are cute and fuzzy.  You can hold them up to your face.  I will put up a picture of them once they hatch but that won’t be for awhile.  By my next post we should have some lambs!  I can’t wait!  Thank you for reading my blog and have a nice day!

Lucky Girl

Ester, you are very lucky to grow up on a farm. Being a 'city' family, we don't have the experience you do with all the animals and I'm sure it is so fun playing with your siblings on such a big yard. It must be so neat to cuddle with the baby animals and help your Mom and Dad with the chores too : ) I have enjoyed reading your blog. Thanks.

My limited experience on the farm.

Thank you so much for letting us know how your day-to-day life plays out on the farm. I never lived on a farm but as a child had the opportunity to visit on summer vacation . I couldn't believe where milk came from because I was used to just seeing it in the bottle. It took me awhile to drink it after I actually saw where it came from. My first trip through the barn .... a cow peed on my feet .... I left the barn running at lightening speed. It is interesting to view your farm life experiences through young eyes. THANKS AGAIN for taking the time to do this. Your mother's Aunt Sharon

COWS

I grew up on a farm too, in Minnesota then later moved to a farm here in Saskatchewan. My farm memory is having to get up early and go out and milk the cows. In the winter I loved crawling into the hay mangers to keep warm between changing milkers. I really have NO love for cows though. I agree with you Ester that a farm is the best place to grow up. Keep up the good job!!!

Eyes

I grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan, one of my favorite things was looking into the cow's eyes. Maybe your sheep have as beautiful eyes as they did.
