SYP is a youth run model parliament. It is open to anyone between the ages of 15-21 who wants to meet new people and learn about the parliamentary system. SYP tries to imitate the actual legislature in both debate and structure. Past members include former Prime Minister of Canada John Diefenbaker and former Premier of Saskatchewan Lorne Calvert. SYP holds minis in March, May (except for years with Westerns), November and our famous session at the Saskatchewan Legislature in December. Click on the “About” page for more information on these events.

SYP debates bills and resolutions in Parliamentary style and has cabinet members that organize the events for the members. The House is unevenly divided into Government and Opposition sides, but the members are free to vote and speak any way they wish. The members write and debate the resolutions on the topics of their choice. Each member is given the chance to speak on every resolution
